Oli and myself drank two pints of coffee and made the final choices from the Sarah Raven catalog. These will make the backbone of our crop for this year.
There were a few things unavailable as one would expect but we still managed to spend over a oner without any difficulty.
All the favourites are in there, most of our list of Higgledy Gardens Top 50 annual flowers are there. We decided to leave out the Euphorbia Marginata for fear of being sued by clients who had stuck the seeping stems of the thing up the noses of children, causing them burns to the brain. {We’ve heard these things are common in Cheshire}
We’re going to be somewhat on the late side for sweet peas but I think we’ll be ok…though no doubt other flower growers are shaking their heads and tutting at our folly. (?)
Other than that there is little to report from the good ship Higgledy.

I like SR too-you get good service and reliable crops-and such style! I am looking ahead to the end of August for something that will be in bloom – I foolishly volunteered for Church flowers and that’s the date I’ve been given-shame my garden is at its best in June, when we always have a family BBQ. Any suggestions for good looking August flowers suitable for cutting?

Erm…. at the risk of upsetting anyone…. I do hope your flowers look better than that blouse ;)

Ha! If they don’t then I shall wear that blouse all next winter…

Personally not so much shaking my head at your late sweet peas as at the fact you bought everything from Sarah Raven! I know she’s your mate, but have you money to burn?! (Or did you just choose from her then go elsewhere?)

I’m a tart. Sarah Raven to my mind is cheaper…and the money for seeds is so cheep who gives a monkey’s…I feel that she relies on her reputation…so I go with her…on her journey of unabashed capitalism and beauty. Suits me. ;) x
