Euphorbia marginata is an unusual annual Euphorbia which acts as a double super, extra magic foliage filler. Its subtle silvery green leaves are an amazing backdrop to white flowers such as Cosmos purity. A true winner in the vase.
How to propagate Euphorbia Marginata
We have found it best to sow this fella just where you want it to grow as our attempts at transplanting seedlings have been somewhat less than successful {although I have heard other folk have managed well enough…but they probably cheated}
Plant in well drained soil in full or partial sun. They are native to an area of Americaland where the soils are poor and so consequently doesn’t require feeding or indeed too much water.
…as a cut flower
Being that the best time to cut Euphorbia Marginata is when its at its most showy, in the Autumn, it is best shown with its late flowering friends. Just uber delicious with deep crimson dahlias.
WARNING The sap from this little lady can burn…handle very carefully and sear the stems in boiling water to stop the sap leaking out and putting you in a bad mood all day.
Where can I find Euphorbia marginata seeds?
Our old friends Thompson and Morgan will supply you with seeds as will Sarah Raven seeds. (click on banner in right hand side bar)

I have just purchased some cut euphorbia for use in vase arrangements for my church. Can you tell me how to prep them before arranging?
Thanks
Eileen
