    We have tons of that yellow stuff in your massive hand :) Mum called it ‘Soldiers Buttons’. I did look it up but don’t remember the ‘proper’ name but I think most people call it ‘Bachelors Buttons’ ? (not to be confused with chocloate soup).

      bachelors buttons is the american name for cornflowers…its real name is Kerala…although my spelling may be wrong…the flowers are as you say very much like cornflowers…though I thought…and you may think me odd…that bachelors buttons came from the fact that bachelors have blue belly button fluff the same colur as cornflowers!!! Ha!
