‘Higgledy trilogies’ are new for this season. Three packets of flowers you can sow in the spring which will improve your life….for a fiver. #simples
Tall Climbing Nasturtium: Always a best seller year in year out. An old fashioned favourite. The young leaves and flowers are edible too. These remind me of endless childhood summers.
Nigella ‘Oxford Blue’. Another old fashioned favourite. I sow some in April…and some in May (for a longer flowering season.) They can also be sown in autumn for an early flowering the following year. I find they work well sprinkle sown over a square meter or two of weed free bare soil. They will self seed freely for the following year. (They get about!)
Larkspur ‘Imperials’…ok…it seems like I’m on a nostalgic trip here…yet another old fashioned fav. Larks can be erratic at germinating…the seeds like a spell of cold, so stick them in the freezer for a week before sowing…or sow them early…like March. Larkspur are a Delphinium…which comes from the word delphis….which is Greek for dolphin…think long nose. Tall, willowy beauties.
