Matthiola bicornis. Night Scented Stock.
Lots of us get a bit gushy about Night Scented Stocks. We remember are parents or Grandparents growing it in their gardens. A total delight for the olfactory senses.
Many old hands say they are best sown direct but they can also be sown into pots and planted out when they are a few weeks old. I shall be sowing that way from April. They can also work well in large containers. I intend having a couple of buckets of the roof of the boat with some sweet peas…this will fill the towpath with delightful niffs.
The flowers are edible too… :)
