This wonderful crimson, velvety beast is a very classy number. This is my fifth year of growing Winston and he is here to stay.
Not only is it a particularly strong colour…nothing wishy-washy about this chap but it is very dependable, producing heaps of flowers over a long period. As hardy annuals, you can make an autumn sowing and or a spring sowing.
“Lathyrus odoratus ‘Winston Churchill’ is a popular Spencer-type sweet pea, bearing dark crimson red, velvety flowers with a fantastic fragrance. It’s perfect for training up an obelisk or trellis in the garden, or even in a pot on the patio.” Gardener’s World.
