For a long time I have only grown Eschscholzia ‘Orange King’…because…well…it’s amazing. However, having spied ‘Ivory Castle’ growing in a chum’s garden I decided to give it a trial. The germination rates have been fantastic and seeds sown directly into the soil are doing really well. I sowed in mid-April …but you can sow in Autumn too for earlier flowers in the Spring.
‘Ivory Castle’ has wonderful creamy white flowers with yellow stamen held above feathery foliage…a very elegant plant.
At 12 inches it is shorter than most of the flowers I sell for cut flower gardeners but it will be perfect for a simple glass of flowers….I suspect it is going to look mighty fine with ‘Indian Prince’ calendula and Nicotiana ‘Lime Green’.
Height: 40 cm
300ish seeds in a packet
Sow Eschscholzia seeds in April/May and also in August/September
