Aster ‘Ostrich Plume’

Aster ‘Ostrich Plume’ is a wonderfully feathery and flamboyant variety, with large, soft-textured flower heads on branching stems. It’s an eye-catcher in the garden and a real standout in the vase—unusual, generous, and full of character. This is the kind of flower that turns heads (and possibly sparks a little neighbourly envy).

It’s also an early bloomer for an aster, giving you colour and drama before many other late-summer flowers get going.

Be warned—this variety leans into the flouncy, frothy end of the spectrum. If you’re after something subtle, this may not be your cup of tea. But if you love a bit of bold, vintage-style glamour, you’re in for a treat.

Sow seeds undercover in March or April, then plant out after the last frost. Or sow direct outdoors in May. Give each plant about a foot of space.
