Canterbury Bells ‘Single Mix’ (Campanula medium)

Canterbury Bells ‘Single Mix’ is a traditional cottage garden biennial, much loved for its tall spires of bell-shaped blooms in shades of blue, lavender, pink, and white. The flowers are held on strong stems above rosettes of green foliage, and they’re excellent both in the garden and as cut flowers.

Sow seeds from May to July for flowers the following summer. Start them in trays or pots and transplant once large enough, or sow direct into a nursery bed. Plants overwinter as leafy rosettes and shoot up in early summer. They like full sun or part shade and prefer well-drained soil.

Canterbury Bells are classic, romantic, and a brilliant way to bring height and structure to borders. Bees and other pollinators love them too.
